It is our belief that it takes good and actionable information to make any business stand out and the foundation of such information is quality and timely data. Industrial Evolution was founded to make that a reality in the process industries.
Everything we do is built on the PI System from OSIsoft - you don’t need to have PI yourself to use our services, but it has been the solid platform that we need to deliver on our promise of quality and timeliness. OSIsoft invested in the start-up of Industrial Evolution and remains the single largest shareholder. As a consequence, we are able to bring some PI-based service offerings that are unique in the market.
We also believe in accountability. Industrial Evolution provides an exciting and stimulating work environment for its employees which means that we attract the best. We all realize that our customers pay our mortgages and feed our families so we have a passionate devotion to customer satisfaction - we get it done well and then we make sure it runs well all the time, whatever "it" is!
Industrial Evolution
As the 1990’s drew to a close, business practices had evolved dramatically in the wake of a maturing internet. Business processes were being "disaggregated" and it was no longer necessary for companies to do everything themselves. Small companies could act big by accessing tools and services that had previously been out of their economic reach. Big companies could act small by leveraging information quickly instead of being bogged down by bureaucracy.
More and more companies were engaging in collaborative business models: companies that competed in one area, started to partner in others; suppliers began to add value to their customers by providing technical support and managing their inventories; customers began to improve their efficiency by making it easier for suppliers to provide them products.
The process industries were dominated by vendors wanting to sell more and more hardware to collect more and more data. We recognized that the data was now dispersed among various organizations, so there was no obvious buyer of the hardware in many cases. We also saw that there was no shortage of data being collected, but that it was not available to users inside or outside the corporations. We formed Industrial Evolution to do something about that.
Our Solutions
Our main innovation was to provide Data as a Service to those who wanted quality and timely real-time data but could not get it either because they did not have the infrastructure or because the data was in the hands of some other company. We collect real-time process data from systems and devices often from behind a corporate firewall (our customers' or their partners'), and make it available securely via the internet, either via a web site or via a direct data feed. The service is unique in that it is device independent.
This led us to a more intimate relationship with our customers who asked us to help with Consulting & Projects, all with a focus on quality and timely real-time data. We help them get the most out of potential and actual investments. We have helped customers justify and select real-time data systems. We have advised them on building and integrating software applications on top of these systems and have taken on turn-key responsibility to implement and support them, whether data is collected in-house or as a service.
Based on the experience we have gained with our customers, we have developed our own Application Products to turn the quality and timely real-time data they collect into the actionable information required to run their business. We also supply third-party or custom-developed products, and have a support infrastructure to maintain the value generated.
Our Company
We’ve been around since 2000, and have a unique blend of expertise and experience. Our CEO is a chemical engineer who came from the oil industry. He later worked for a consulting firm that was eventually acquired by one of the large process automation firms. Other employees have a combination of process and supply chain backgrounds together with IT, and it is that combination that means that our company understands technology and the application of technology to solving business problems in the process industries.
We count most of the world’s leading energy and chemical companies among our expanding list of customers. Customers that have used our services from the start, use them still today.
